On 26 July at 7 pm at The Africa Centre, Journalist Francesca Perry and Nigerian architect and #designer Tosin Oshinowo explore Oshinowo’s work and inspirations, ranging from overlooked traditions of tropical modernism in West Africa to the aesthetics of her native #Yoruba culture, to possibilities for the future of sustainability and community in design that embraces traditions of the Global South.
Oshinowo will unpack how these inspirations have influenced her work, from her celebrated beach houses in #Lagos, to her work with the United Nations Development Programme to rebuild a village for internally displaced peoples, to the theme for the 2023 Sharjah Architecture Triennial, which she is curating.
